At Lone Star Aircraft Sales we are a third generation aviation family dating back to the 1960’s. Our experience ranges from military to ATP (“Airline Transport Pilot”)to aircraft maintenance to aircraft sales and all things in between. We have the knowledge and expertise to get you flying in the right aircraft for your mission.

In the 1960’s Juan Oviedo II was an United States Airforce flight engineer and pilot. In the USAF he flew the C-130 Hercules, C-131 Samaritan, and the C-141 Starlifter. He had time at the controls and time in the third seat as the flight engineer. He retired at the rank of Tech Sargent.

His son, Juan Oviedo III, is the founder of DFW Aero Mechanix, Inc, an aircraft mechanic shop that specializes in a variety of aircraft, including, among others, the Twin Cessna, King Air, Citation, Cessna CJ, Cirrus and helicopters. DFW Aero Mechanix is equipped to work on almost anything in General Aviation today.

Nickolas “Nick” Oviedo, eldest son of Juan Oviedo III, has been working for the family aircraft mechanic business his whole adult life and much of his childhood. He has inherited his father’s entrepreneurial spirit. Nick is the co-founder of Lone Star Aircraft Sales where he works with clients to find the best aircraft for their needs. He is working to acquire his private pilot license (PPL) with the goal to complete and pass a check ride before the end of 2025. Nick will continue with flight training and obtaining a instruments rating, multi-engine. His ambition is to become rated to fly jet aircraft to help improve the aircraft sales and maintenance businesses.

Lone Star Aircraft Sales was a company born out of necessity. As DFW Aero Mechanix expanded and developed over the years, maintenance customers wanted new aircraft and asked owner Juan Oviedo III if he could handle the sale. His answer was always, “yes.” His son, Nick, has taken the reigns and heads all sales & acquisitions as the main point of contact for Lone Star Aircraft Sales.
